The Rite of Remembrance
Our soulful, candle-lit Rite of Remembrance resonates with themes of loss, love, and remembrance, creating a tapestry of words and music that honors those who are no longer with us but live on in our hearts.
Encroaching darkness and reverent silence brings us between the worlds as we gather to remember.
Join us around our Dia de los Muertos altar as we sing traditional African, American, Irish, and Mexican folk songs, and haunting music by Gustav Holst, Dan Forrest, Elaine Hagenberg, and more.

Spotlight
La Llorona, arr. Jon Washburn. In Mexico, this is the song most closely associated with Dia de los Muertos. La Llorona, “the Wailing Woman,” is a vengeful ghost who is said to roam near bodies of water, mourning her children whom she drowned in a jealous rage after discovering her husband was unfaithful to her. It is said that whoever hears her crying either suffers misfortune or death, and their life becomes unsuccessful in every endeavor.
