12 th Night: A Yule Concert & Viking Feast

Inspired by the Yule celebrations of ancient Britain and Scandinavia, our 12th Night Yule Concert and Viking Feast is a magical evening of glorious music and merriment, with a real Boar’s Head Procession and copious toasting. All that is followed by a sumptuous Yule feast of Scandinavian delights.

This year’s 12th Night rings with exuberant, irreverent, and simply beautiful music by Andrew Adams, Abby Betinis, Erik Esenvalds, Joanna L’Estrange, and all your 12th Night favorites.

And then there’s the feast:

Our catered feast is a traditional Scandinavian Julbord, featuring a traditional Yule ham, our chef’s acclaimed Swedish meatballs, all the traditional sides like German potato salad and Black Forest cake, and copious amounts of wine and mead.

Spotlight

Joanna Forbes L'Estrange

Joanna Forbes L’Estrange is one of Britain’s most popular and versatile choral composers, noted for her easy fluidity between jazz and classical styles. Born into a family of highly regarded musicians, she began her career as a vocalist with the Swingle Singers. As a member of the acclaimed vocal ensemble Tenebrae, she recorded over 25 albums. At London’s iconic Abbey Road Studios, she records soundtracks for film, television, and video games.

Her choral “re-imagining” of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons gained her international recognition. She was commissioned to write an anthem for the 2023 coronation of King Charles III. In 2025, she was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal School of Church Music.

The tuneful quality of her choral music has been noted in many reviews including: “Forbes L’Estrange seems to have been born with memorable melodies coursing through her veins” (BBC Music), “a sublime blend of catchy and comforting” (Hyperion), and “full of delicious ear-worms” (Gramophone).
